Although I have tasted, relished and enjoyed squid earlier, this was the very first time I was preparing a squid dish at home. It is very easy to clean the squid. Please check this for the step-by-step instructions on how to prepare the squid before cooking.
Spicy squid curry:
Ingredients: Squid - 1 cup
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 1
Ginger - garlic paste - 2 tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1tsp
Garam Masala powder - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - 5-10
Green chillies - 3-4 slit
Coriander leaves for garnish.
Mix together squid, ginger-garlic paste, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and leave aside for 10-15 minutes.
In a pan, heat oil. Add chopped onion, curry leaves, green chillies. Fry till the onion becomes tender and golden in colour. Add the chopped tomato. Fry for a couple of minutes until oil starts to separate. Then add the marinated squid. Mix well. Add water only if necessary. Cover and cook on medium flame for 10 minutes or until cooked. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Note: The quantity of the powders can be adjusted as per taste. Water can be added to have more gravy.
